Lawrence Brownlee is pleased to announce his 2019-20 season, continuing his presence at the leading international opera houses and major orchestra halls. Brownlee’s season launches with a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for one of his signature roles as Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis, followed by a return to Dutch National Opera for another Rossinian comedy favorite as Don Ramiro in his La Cenerentola, alongside Isabel Leonard. Brownlee then makes a welcome return to the Houston Grand Opera, adding a new role to his repertoire for his role debut as Fernand in Donizetti’s La Favorite.
Brownlee then switches gears to perform several concerts and recitals with the Orchestra dell’Academia Santa Cecilia, Würth Philharmoniker, and more, and gala concerts with artists such as Michael Spyres and Michael Balke, as well as Pretty Yende. He will also perform in a series of solo recitals featuring his critically-acclaimed song cycle Cycles of My Being that centers around the black male experience in America today, including at Shriver Hall for its Baltimore premiere, and at Gardner Museum Concerts for its Boston premiere. His season concludes with a house debut at The Dallas Opera for Il Barbiere di Siviglia, alongside Pretty Yende and Lucas Meachem.
